Eira Lizeth Corral Sepúlveda is the first Latina elected to the MWRD Board of Commissioners, inaugurated December 8, 2020 — also the youngest Commissioner and first in recent history to come from the Northwest suburbs of Cook County. A 'hometown proud' elected official from Hanover Park, she served three terms as Hanover Park Village Clerk beginning at age 23 as a single mother, from 2009 to 2021. She has 12+ years of public service experience, has registered thousands of voters, and champions environmental equity, inclusion, and infrastructure investment. She holds a B.A. (double major: Latino & Latin American Studies and Political Science) from DePaul University (2007) and a graduate degree from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2011). She is running for re-election on March 17, 2026 with endorsements from both U.S. senators, eight U.S. representatives, the Chicago Tribune editorial board, the Chicago Sun-Times editorial board, and the Cook County Democratic Party.
